Land Registry (Titles Office) changes - June 2008

The link below gives you a 2 page PDF of the most common Land Registry fees. It also includes a "ready reckoner" of the fee that you pay when lodging a transfer of land. Unfortunately the Land Registry does not list the fees alphabetically (but by the relevant "section number). Those fees of most interest to kit users are:

s45 - transfer of land (lodging fee)
s49 - transmission application (actually called an Application by Personal Representative). Relevant to deceased estates.
s50 - survivorship application (for removing from a title the name of a joint owner who has died)
s74 - lodging a new mortgage
s84(1) - discharge of mortgage
s89 - caveat.

(Stamp) Duty - July 2008

In 2008 there was a minor adjustment to the levels at which (stamp) duty rates change, but there was no change to the "marginal" rate - that is - the State Government still applies a 6% tax to every extra dollar in house price, and the overall tax is progressing toward 6% of the whole purchase price.

Probate Office Fee rises - July 2008

The fee that you pay to the Probate Office when you lodging your application for Probate or Letters of Administration rises on 1 July each year.

The fee for the 12 months commencing 1 July 2008 is $255.40
